Rally the Troops: Find & Organize Volunteers Like a Pro
July 2, 2025
Running a successful political campaign requires more than just a compelling message — it takes people. Volunteers are the backbone of any campaign, powering everything from phone banks and canvassing efforts to digital outreach and in-person events. But finding, organizing, and training those volunteers can quickly become a logistical headache if you don’t have the right tools.
That’s where Campaign Nucleus comes in.
Our platform is designed to streamline every aspect of your campaign’s operations, including volunteer management. Here’s how you can use Nucleus to recruit, organize, and activate your volunteer team with maximum efficiency.
1. Recruit with Email and Texting Tools
Finding great volunteers starts with reaching the right people at the right time. Campaign Nucleus lets you do exactly that through its powerful, built-in email and texting tools.
- Targeted outreach: Segment your existing supporter lists to identify those most likely to volunteer — like super voters, previous supporters, or recent event attendees — and send personalized invitations to get involved.
- Automated follow-ups: Set up automated email or SMS sequences to follow up with interested individuals, ensuring no one falls through the cracks.
- Mobile-first communications: Meet supporters where they are — on their phones — with quick texts asking for event RSVPs or help with upcoming campaign tasks.
2. Centralize Volunteer Data
As you grow your volunteer base, Campaign Nucleus helps you stay organized by storing all supporter and volunteer data in one place. You’ll be able to:
- View volunteer sign-ups in real-time
- Track past participation and availability
- Record skills, interests, and contact preferences
This centralized approach allows your team to manage volunteer shifts, tasks, and assignments without juggling spreadsheets or multiple systems.
3. Train and Mobilize with Events
Once you’ve built your volunteer team, it’s time to get them campaign-ready. With Nucleus’ event management tools, you can schedule and run volunteer trainings, canvassing days, and more — all from the same platform.
- Create custom event pages for trainings and community events
- Send automated invites and reminders via email or text
- Track RSVPs and attendance in real-time
You can even follow up after the event to keep your volunteers engaged and ready for their next assignment.
4. Keep Volunteers Engaged
The key to retaining great volunteers is consistent communication. With Nucleus, your campaign can stay in touch with volunteers through newsletters, updates, and recognition campaigns — all designed to keep morale high and energy up as Election Day approaches.

Automation: Here to Make Your Life Easier
May 23, 2024
By Julia, Deliverability Expert
The Nucleus team has been working hard to provide you with a functional automation feature & we are seeing some progress, so I want to go over some ways to use the system to your benefit.
Did you know proper use of our automation feature can actually improve your overall deliverability? Well, if not, you’re about to!
There are 2 uses for automation that are commonly encouraged to help stay consistent with industry-standard deliverability.
The first use is a Welcome Series.
This is a series of emails that you send new subscribers to your recipient list.
When creating your welcome series, you want to focus your stream of emails on the following:
- Confirming the subscription – you can even use these series to double opt-in recipients; this helps reduce the likelihood of blocks & gives you the upper hand when contacting servers if a block should appear
- Introducing the nature of your emails – let recipients know what topics will be covered in emails & how often they can expect to be contacted; this allows recipients to be expecting your emails so they can more quickly engage & shows servers good consistency which benefits your reputation.
- Locating interests – if you send out a variety of emails, this can be used to locate (& tag) recipient interest for use in the future.
The second use is an Engagement Series.
This is a series of emails that you send to recipients who have not engaged with your emails for an extended period of time. The recommended maximum amount of time you should keep an unengaged user on your list is 180 days.
When creating your engagement series, you want to focus your stream of emails on the following:
- Locating IF interest still exists – Focus on sending emails of all the topics you generally send & see if/where a user engages so you can send those types of emails to the recipient in the future & hopefully yield better engagement
- Unsubscribe users who do not engage – If they do not engage at all, do not be afraid to unsubscribe the recipient. Remember: Quality > Quantity.
